High-Speed Frenzy
The fog hung heavy over Neon City, turning its towering spires and holograms into ghostly outlines. Daylight barely pierced the dense smog, casting everything in a muted, dreamlike glow. For Rei, it was chaos.
Her sleek Lancia Zero car, all sharp angles and neon underglow, roared through the hazy streets, dodging autonomous cabs and drones. The high-pitched whine of motorbikes grew louder behind her. She glanced at the rearview mirror, heart racing. A half-dozen bikers emerged from the mist, The Hounds — mercenaries known for their relentless hunts.
“Where are you, Dax?” she barked into her earpiece.
“On your nine, boss,” came the smooth reply.
From the fog, Dax appeared on his motorbike, a blur of blue neon. He fired off shots, sending one biker crashing into a parked car. But the others were undeterred, closing in fast.
“Keep them busy!” Rei yelled, spotting a narrow alley up ahead.
“On it,” Dax replied, firing again. Another biker went down in a shower of sparks, but the rest spread out, hunting her like a pack of wolves.
Rei took a deep breath and swerved into the alley. The space was tight, her car scraping against grimy walls, as she vanished deeper into the fog, the bikers hot on her trail.
