When I saw Hum3D latest car challenge I was quite excited and I knew which car I was going to model - The DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future 2. I have always admired that car and I would always draw it as a kid until it was perfect. Now I have the chance to model it in 3D and make it look as photo realistic as possible. It was quite the challenge to model it perfectly with lots of research, pausing the movie at the right parts, and going to classical car shows. Luckily there was an original DeLorean at the car show and it was the right opportunity to take as many photos as I can so I can model the car.
The 3D scene is inspired by when Scientist Doc Brown first shows the DeLorean Time Machine to Marty at the Twin Pines Mall car park. I wanted to create a similar scene but this time Scientist Doc Brown is in the year 2015 having made a hover conversion to the DeLorean Time Machine and testing its flying capabilities while still wearing the Hazmat Suit against nuclear radiation.
